Pop Culture and BrandyBrandy Alexander cocktails have a long affiliation with “the famous and sophisticated”.  Brandy Alexander is a smooth and luxurious cocktail that was featured during a royal wedding. After its renowned appearance at the wedding of Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood and her suitor, Viscount Lascelles, in London, Brandy Alexander has made many more appearance close to the red carpet and has remained a part of pop culture.

Stars have consumed Brandy Alexanders on sets of movies and TV shows and during celebratory events over the last century.  Among the famous calls are by Jack Lemon in the Days of Wine and Roses. In one scene Lee Remick receives a Brandy Alexander and is impressed with the chocolate flavor, yet smooth taste of the drink. In the pilot of the Mary Tyler Moore show the title character calls for a Brandy Alexander when asked if she would like a drink at her job interview and Peggy on a blind date in an episode of Mad Men, Indian Summer calls for a Brandy Alexander.  Over time other movies also make reference to this delicious drink.

Memorialized not only on film Brandy Alexander is used in song titles and as inspiration to musical artists. Feist uses “Brandy Alexander” as song title on their album The Reminder, and Ron Sexsmith has “Brandy Alexander” as a song on Exit Strategy of the Soul. The Brandy Alexanders most famous musical fans were members of the Beatles. Both John Lennon and Ringo Starr had a passion for this coctail and John had been know to endearingly call a Brandy Alexander his milkshake. 

These are just a couple examples of how Brandy Alexander has infiltrated pop culture. While the drink is referenced in songs and viewed on TV, it is also found in print as the character name in Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Invisible Monsters

Some have even adopped the name “Brandy Alexander” as their own as the pseudonym of Isabel in Viva Las Vegas. There is an actress, a wrestler even a Miss Gay American among them. Brandy itself is consumed by film stars and directors at many parties and events or wherever celebrations occur.

Brandy Alexander is often used in scenes that depict parties and large events. Brandy Alexander is the perfect drink to enjoy for its taste and relaxing effects. Like most cocktail, Brandy Alexander may help you wind down or enjoy yourself more in what may otherwise consider tense moments.  As these examples show movie stars, musicians  and others have made a wise choice in calling for Brandy Alexanders while celebrating in real life or on set.
